After discussing things with family we have decided to redirect our
racing efforts to another type of vehicle. I am going to look at the
Quarter Midgets that run in Topeka and the Micro Sprints that run at
Sweet Springs. Both appear to offer the safety attributes I think are
mandatory (i.e. roll cage, safety belts, etc) so our choice will come
down to what appears to be the most economical and available option.
We
have had a lot of fun during our time karting and wish everyone the best
of luck and safety.

Well, we had an experience tonight that has forced us to reevaluate our
current choice of racing vehicles. I always had some concerns over the
way the kids just sit in the karts with no protection from being thrown
from the kart or having another kart able to hit the driver, etc. I
always managed to push the concerns aside by taking into account the
extremely small number of serious injuries I had ever heard of
associated with karting. Tonight, my nephew was involved in an incident
that brought those concerns back to life stronger than ever. We're going
to sit down and take a serious look at switching to another format.

It's time to get ready for another racing season! As of now we are
planning on racing the full schedule at Thunderlake Speedway again this
year. Nash will be moving up to Junior 1 and Brad will be racing one
more season in Junior 1. I am not sure if Nash will run Light or Heavy
at this point and I believe Brad will once again run Heavy.
I
am looking forward to another fun season at the track! Stay tuned for
