Due to scheduling conflicts we will not be running the Boogieman Race this weekend.

Therefore, I hereby officially declare our season complete.

We had a ton of fun this season and I really hate to see it come to an end. Both boys ran hard and did a great job. I had a ton of fun watching both boys out on the track and I am very proud of both of their efforts.

As of right now Brad will move up to Junior 1 and Nash to Junior Amateur next season.

9/22/07

Tonight was the last race of the season at Thunderlake. We will race once more in the Boogieman Race next month then we will be done for the year.

Overall, we had a really good year. I can't believe it is already over. Nash ran his last rookie race tonight and finished 3rd and 2nd in his heats and 1st in his feature. He has done really well and I look forward to him moving up to the Junior Amateur class next season.

Brad had a fun night but fell short of that elusive top 5 finish. While we didn't have the success in terms of finishing positions I had hoped for we still had a ton of fun and enjoyed the time we had at the track. We'll have to wait and see what they do with the rules for the Junior Amateur class for next year before we decide what class Brad will run in next year. As of right now we'll be moving him up to Junior 1 but I would really like for him to be able to run JA another year. We'll just have to wait and see.

There was some exciting racing in the rookie class tonight at Thunderlake! Although the overall kart count was low Nash and the #7 rookie kart put on a great show. Nash won the first heat by a sizable margin but the #7 kart came back in the second heat and ran really great also winning by the same. In the feature it was Nash on the pole and the #7 kart outside on the front row. The #7 kart got the lead off the start and Nash was on his tail for numerous laps. Finally an opening come up and Nash took advantage of it gaining the lead. That was not the end though and the #7 kart barely missed regaining the lead coming across the start/finish line by half a kart. Overall it was really fun watching the two boys race hard.

Brad missed tonight due to a previous engagement but will be back next week.

9/8/07

Tonight was another fun night at Thunderlake. Nash had some great competition in the rookie class tonight! While still winning all his races he definitely did not run off and leave at least two of the other karts in his class. It seems the #7 and #00 karts are determined to catch Nash and they made some great progress this week. It was fun to have someone to race with! Keep up the great work. Brad gave it another great try and while we were still out of the money so to speak we had fun and that is what it is all about.

I am really proud of both of our boys; each gives it their best and they win and lose with dignity and honor. You simply can't ask for more...

8/25/07

As scheduled we were back at Thunderlake tonight. Nash again dominated the rookie class easily winning both heats and the feature. This will be the last season he is forced to run in the rookie class at Thunderlake and I look forward to seeing what he can do in the Junior Amateur class. Brad had a good night overall but some very questionable calls by the track resulted in him having to continually try and move up from the back and unfortunately he just couldn't overcome the penalties. We will keep giving it our best and hopefully this black cloud that hangs over our heads will go away or at least break up long enough to let some sun shine through! It has been a tough season for our JA kart that's for sure...

8/18/07

After two weeks off we finally got both karts back out to Thunderlake. Nash dominated the rookie class and easily won all three of his races. He is definitely ready to move up to the next class. I think I will inquire about this again and see what they say. Brad had a descent night but fell prey to some overly aggressive driving by another kart in his second heat race and then to some questionable calls pertaining to lineups following yellow flags in the feature. He just can't seem to get a break but I believe all things average to some normal state in the long run so all the bad luck he has had will hopefully be offset by some good luck real soon. We shall see.

7/28/07

Another good night for our team. Both boys had good runs and we had fun as usual. Nash won one heat and his feature but got spun in his second heat. Brad had good runs in his heats and the feature but that top 5 finish is still outside of our reach. We'll keep plugging away.

7/21/07

We made it back to Thunderlake tonight. The Rookie class had a fairly low kart count and Nash and one other kart were by far the fastest in the class. Nash led and should have won all three of his races but the same loose condition with the kart did him in again. He won his first heat with no incidents; spun twice in his second heat and still only lost the race by less than a kart length and in the feature he wound up second after spinning twice.

Brad had a good night and continues to get a little better each time out. As usual there were a large number of Jr. Amateur karts. This is one of the most competitive classes at the track in my opinion. We started last in the first heat and managed to move up to fourth. In the second heat we started on the pole but fell back to fourth at the finish. In the feature we started seventh and I believe we wound up finishing in about the same spot. There were quite a few yellow flags and I think we got hosed on at least one or two in regards to where they lined us up but we just fell short of getting in the top 5.

Next week we'll be back at Thunderlake.

7/11/07

As planned we headed down to Lasoski tonight to run in the Johnson County Fair race. The weather was great and both boys were ready to race. Unfortunately, there was virtually no turnout in our class so the boys raced themselves and one other kart. I was really disappointed that more Jr Am teams did not show up. The one kart that did show up ran really well. He won the feature by a significant margin but got DQ'd when he didn't go to tech inspection. This resulted in Nash getting first and Brad second. I hate to get a win this way but had the shoe been on the other foot we would have had the same given to us so I just have to say it was unfortunate but this rule is very clear so the results are fair.

7/7/07

We headed back out to Thunderlake tonight for the Rookie Spectacular. Brad had a previous engagement so it was just Nash tonight.

Nash was on target and definitely the fastest Rookie kart tonight. He won his first heat and finished second in both his second heat and feature after spinning while way out in front in both races. The track did get pretty slick and I simply did not get his kart setup properly to handle the slick conditions. Overall it was still a really good night.

Our next event will be this coming Wednesday when we plan on participating in the Johnson County Fair race at Lasoski Speedway. Nash and Brad will run in the Jr. Amateur class. It should be fun.

6/23/07

As scheduled we went down to Lasoski this week and both boys raced in the Junior Amateur class. Brad had a really good night by getting 2nd & 1st in his heats and then finishing 2nd in the feature. He was fast all night and except for one kart in the feature was the kart everyone was trying to catch. Nash started off slow in his first heat but then came back to finish second after a great battle with Brad for first in his second heat. In the feature Nash got off to great start but got spun and wound up finishing 4th. Overall we had a fun night and both boys wound up finishing "in the money".

6/16/07

We decided to take the weekend off this week. We all needed a break from the routine. We are planning on heading down to Lasoski where both boys will run in the Junior Amateur class next weekend.

6/9/07

We ran Thunderlake again this week. Both boys did well and we had fun as usual. Nash had some problems in his heats but got it together for the feature and finished 3rd. Brad ran great in his heats and almost won his second heat! He was about a half a kart short on the finish. In his feature we missed the setup and he fell back from the leaders. We did make a huge improvement in his kart and he will be better next time out. As of right now we are scheduled to run at Lasoski next weekend but we may just take the weekend off; haven't decided for sure as of right now.

6/2/07

We had another fun night at Thunderlake Speedway. Nash ran well all evening and finished no lower than second in any of his events. Brad ran well but we are still coming up short on getting him into the top 5. We still have more work to do. Next week we will be back at Thunderlake.

5/19/07

This week we went down to Lasoski Speedway where Nash cut his teeth in the Junior Amateur class. The track owners were gracious enough to let us run Nash in the class even though the minimum age is supposed to be 7. As I had expected, Nash was up to the task and wound up winning the race. The car count was extremely low but he still managed to drive a very clean, fast race and definitely earned the victory. This race had a monetary payout so today he got to go and buy a new game for his Nintendo. He was pretty excited to say the least!

Brad had a scout campout and was unable to race with us this week.

Our next scheduled event will be the weekend after Memorial Day (June 2).

5/12/07

Both boys ran again this week. Nash dominated the rookie class by lapping the entire field in both his heats. In his feature he got spun in turns 1 & 2 and then while sitting idle on the track he got t-boned by another rookie kart. It was a pretty hard collision and put him out of the race. Nash was not injured only a little scared by the whole thing. The kart suffered only minor damage.

Brad did well again this week and improved his results from last week. In his heats he finished 3rd and 8th and in the A feature he pulled out 7th. All his races were incident free. We still have a ways to go but constant improvement is our goal and we achieved that this week so all is good.

As of right now Brad will not be out with us next week but we are planning on running Nash.

5/5/07

Our first night out at Thunderlake was a good one for both boys. Nash came out swinging by running in the top two in all his events. In fact, he did so well that the track actually pulled us into tech and made sure we weren't cheating by running an illegal restrictor plate. Naturally, they verified we were totally legal but it was rather amusing for them to tech anyone in the rookie class. I never saw this last season. I suspect someone probably complained or something? Who knows...

Brad also had a good first night out. He made the A by finishing 4th in both his heat races. In the feature he ran well but just wasn't quite fast enough to get into the top 5. This was still a pretty respectable run especially since he hadn't been in his kart at all this year. We weren't able to make practice so we didn't get the valuable seat time most others got before the first race. I will need to review our setup and see if I can find something to help him get up front. We'll consider this race our "practice" that we missed...

Next week we'll be back at Thunderlake with both karts.

4/21/07

We had to skip practice this weekend due to a previous commitment so we will just have to hope for the best on opening night. I think I have everything ready to go. I sure would have liked to get the boys and the karts on the track before a real event but sometimes things just don't work out the way you would like! :)

3/18/07

It's time to get ready for the 2007 season! Our team is planning on running primarily at the Thunderlake Speedway this season with a few outings at Lasoski Speedway when our schedule permits. Brad will be starting out in the Jr. Amateur class and Nash will run the Rookie class again this year. Both karts will be sporting our team color red with some new, flashy graphics (assuming I figure out how to use the vinyl cutter I purchased over the winter!).

We're looking forward to another fun season of kart racing!

I will try and keep this web page updated weekly with our results once the season officially starts so stay tuned...
