We finally made it back to the track! After almost a month everything and everyone cooperated and we had another fun night.

Brad had a football game and had to miss the event.

Nash had a good night overall. In his first heat race he finished 2nd then in the second heat race a mechanical issue slowed him down drastically and he finished last. This resulted in his starting mid pack for the feature. After a slow start he managed to move up to third and was gaining on the front two karts when the race ended. Final finishing position was third.

The season is coming to an end way too fast! We will have to miss next weekend's race due to the holiday then we'll be back for the remaining three races.

As you can see I've gotten a little behind on keeping this page updated! Too many pots in the fire...

Anyway, we skipped racing last weekend (8/2) due to other priorities and the heat. Brad was also away at scout camp so we chose to get some work done on other projects.

We had an interested time tonight at Thunderlake Speedway. Nash had less than optimal results in his heat races; the second race his kart quit running on the starting grid but the karts behind him pushed him out on the track with the engine off. I didn't know it wasn't running until the race started and Nash was coasting the bottom of the track. Since the rules restrict restarting the kart once it is on the track he wound up finishing last in this heat. This resulted in him having to start in the back of the feature.

Event after starting in the back he came back to finish second right on the tail of the lead kart. I think he would have gotten past him with another lap. I made some changes to his setup that appear to be working so hopefully we'll get that first place finish soon.

Brad also had a strong run. Although we still finished out of the money Brad was noticeably faster and had some good racing action. The Junior 1 Heavy class is super competitive and we have had a tough time trying to run with the fastest karts. We'll keep giving it our best and see what happens.

Nash had his best finish of the year tonight; he wound up 3rd in the A Feature right on the tail of the 2nd place kart. I thought he was going to get by the 2nd place kart a couple times but fell just short. I have a few ideas on setup that we will try next time out.

Brad's kart had mechanical troubles and he couldn't finish the feature. I will have to see what's up with his kart.

We're going to take the next two weeks off. Be back at Thunderlake July 12th.

6/7/08

This week we were back at Thunderlake. It looked like rain at first but things cleared up and we had a great night of racing.

Nash finished 1 & 3 in his two heats then wound up 4th in the feature. He ran a good race but just couldn't catch the leading karts. I am not sure what we are going to have to do to catch the kart that is winning every week; that kart is just noticeably faster than all the other karts. We'll just have to keep working on it.

Brad had a good night and had some good racing action. We're just not as fast as the front runners and they tend to run off and leave us each week. We'll just keep working at it.

5/31/08

Both boys had descent nights tonight at Thunderlake. Nash ran well in his heats and finished 4th in the feature. Brad gave it his best and finished somewhere mid-pack.

5/17/08

Brad had a prior commitment so Nash was our only entry this week in the Junior Amateurs at Thunderlake.

We had great heat race runs finishing second in both races. For the feature Nash started 4th and wound up finishing 6th. We had some difficulty with the start and gave up two positions right up front which we were unable to get back during the race.

At this point it appears our kart is just not as fast as the others which have finished ahead of us the last two races. I'll have to do some more work and see if I can make our equipment a little stronger.

5/3/08

We got the season started tonight at Thunderlake Speedway.

Both boys had good opening nights. Nash wound up finishing well in both his heats and fifth in the feature. Brad finished mid pack on his heats and eighth in the feature.

I know of a couple things on each kart that need adjusted so hopefully both boys will have a little better kart next time out.

4/20/08

We attended the practice session at Thunderlake as planned and overall things went very well. Brad ran with the other Junior 1s and definitely held his ground with the other karts. Nash also ran well and was running with the fast group of the Junior Amateurs. Both boys were definitely a little rusty but quickly got back into the groove. We still have some work to do but they both did very well.

We have next week off then we'll be back at Thunderlake for the season opener.

It's time to go racing!

3/5/08

It's getting close to the start of another season and we're getting started preparing for the new season.

As of right now it looks like we will again call Thunderlake our home track and focus our schedule around theirs. Nash will move up to the Junior Amateur class and Brad will run in the Junior 1 class.

We'll probably also run at Lasoski and the track outside Warsaw a few times schedule permitting.
